| It is obvious that this system has been meticulously developed and very well tested … in fact, if you consider yourself a serious gamer, and like skirmish level sci-fi games, I would say that you are cheating yourself if you don’t give Defiance a go.

A very well designed and solid generic science fiction miniature game for 28mm or 15mm miniatures, with probably the best army and troops creation tool in the market today.

D:VG is [simply] the finest skirmish-level miniatures game I've ever seen, and the graphic presentation sets a new standard for the hobby games industry ... I am simply flabbergasted by how good this game is ... Keep doing stuff like this and you will never stop collecting my money.

WOW! What a well written book!! ... This book is loaded with examples. After every summary of a rule is a well explained example!
--Wes Camp
For twenty bucks there was a whole lot that I liked in
Starslayer and very little that I did not ... For the cost of a
handful of figures you’ll be getting a flexible system that allows you to
build the troops that you want. Yes, absolutely recommended for any fan of
sci-fi tabletop miniature games.

Ascendance is a fantastic supplement to Genesis. The
storyline and army lists strike a great balance between Science Fiction
and Historical gaming where both audiences will find quite a bit of fun...

I
liked Starslayer: Genesis, but Ascendance has
all the best bits to the power of ten. The fluff is good. The armies are
AWESOME! They're so good! I can't decide which is cooler. And they have a
hell of a lot of flavour ... This is not a cheap rip-off of an empire or a
bit of history tacked onto a lacking concept to give it some
respectability, nor tearing all of the symbols and visual cues out of a
context and slapping them on something from pop-sci-fi. It is imaginative
and thoughtful fiction...

I can
honestly say that they are the best sci-fi skirmish rules I've played.

From
the point of view of someone that has been involved in 'skirmish' warfare,
Starslayer is the best representation of that level of
warfare I've seen.

...we
are COMPLETE novices at table top games, but enjoyed [playing
Starslayer]. Once we caught on to the modifiers, turn sequence,
and the morale issues, the game played very smoothly.

...a
solid minis wargame with straightforward mechanics and a really intriguing
universe based on historical groups.

With
the balanced creation system, you always end up with an army that you know
the exact combat value of in relation to another army. Your imagination is
the key, and you can create with whatever you have on hand to represent
the figures you need. In my opinion, building the army is like a labor of
love...and then you get to use it!
